Some GW Libraries services may be temporarily down after a major Amazon Web Services outage.
University spokesperson Crystal Nosal said the AWS outages are affecting Nexis Uni, an online academic research tool available to the GW community through GW libraries. Several AWS services housed in data centers in Northern Virginia have “increased API error rates,” including Amazon DynamoDB and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, according to the AWS Service Health Dashboard.
“We are continuing to monitor the major web outage,” a tweet from Gelman Library reads. “Some online library services and resources may be affected.”
Officials said in a tweet that students who are having trouble accessing library resources can reach out to library services directly for assistance.
“We are continuing to closely monitor the health of the network devices and we expect to continue to make progress towards full recovery,” AWS said in a statement Tuesday. “We still do not have an ETA for full recovery at this time.”
