Men’s basketball will continue to quarantine after pausing all team activities Jan. 19, according to a release Saturday.
The Colonials (3-9, 2-3 A-10) will need to push back their Feb. 6 matchup with Saint Louis, marking the fifth consecutive game delayed after head coach Jamion Christian tested positive for COVID-19 two weeks ago.
“Further updates on the program’s status will be released as appropriate,” the release states.
The team has postponed a total of seven Atlantic 10 games this season. A D.C.-wide curfew after a mob of then-President Donald Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol postponed the team’s matchup with Massachusetts Jan. 6.
A positive COVID-19 test among a Tier 1 staff member in the team’s traveling party delayed the team’s first meeting with St. Bonaventure Jan. 9. But the team was back to practice the following night after additional testing and contact tracing.
GW has not taken the court since Jan. 17. With the current pause in effect, the team’s return to the hardwood is slated for Feb. 9 at Richmond.
