Men’s basketball’s matchup with South Carolina Dec. 3 was canceled due to COVID-19 related concerns, according to a release.
The Colonials (1-4) filled the game with William and Mary last Monday at 7 p.m., according to a release. The Colonials and Tribe (0-1) were first set to meet Dec. 5, but a positive COVID-19 test in the Tribe’s program forced them to quarantine through Monday.
William and Mary returned from quarantine Tuesday, but a trip to the Smith Center will be its first taste of live basketball since a Nov. 28 loss to Old Dominion.
GW filled its first scheduled meeting with William and Mary with a game against Coppin State. The squad also needed to find a replacement game after a positive COVID-19 test paused Towson’s program, which led to a matchup with UMBC.
The contest with the Gamecocks (1-2) was the return game of a home-and-home series, and GW was looking to avenge a 74–65 loss last year. The release stated that the game would not be rescheduled during the 2020-21 season.
