Weekend Outlook – Support locale female artists at MakeHER Mart

End the shortened school week with some laughs at a comedy show, then celebrate the Day of the Dead at The Wharf Saturday. Head on down to the MakeHER Mart at the National Museum of Women in the Arts Sunday to shop for accessories made by female artists.

Friday

The DC Comedy Showcase

Unwind with friends and a few drinks as the best comedians from around the country entertain you at Comedy Club DC. Discover the best of both local and nationally touring comedians from HBO, Comedy Central and Showtime. The venue’s relaxed and friendly atmosphere in Adams Morgan gives you a chance to mingle as you enjoy the show.

Comedy Club DC, 2327 18th St. NW, 9 to 10:30 p.m. General admission. Tickets available for $10.

Saturday

Día de los Muertos at The Wharf

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is celebrated with live music and street food at The Wharf. Bask in the festivities with music from contemporary Irish-Latin band La Unica and a photobooth. You can also paint your own sugar skull or face at painting stations located around The Wharf. The best self-painted face has a chance to win prizes.

Sunday

MakeHER Mart

Support local female artists and designers at the pop-up market organized by the National Museum of Women in the Arts. The products on sale include fine art, home accents, jewelry and other accessories. All products sold are handcrafted, so rest assured you’ll leave with a piece of art that no one else will own.

National Museum of Women in the Arts, 1250 New York Ave. NW. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Student and senior tickets available for purchase at the door for $8 and general admission tickets available for $10.
