U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., was admitted to GW Hospital after fracturing four ribs in a fall in his D.C. apartment Tuesday, The Washington Post reported Wednesday.
The 74-year-old politician “is in pain, but resting and doing well,” spokeswoman Amanda Maddox told The Post in a statement. She added that Isakson “looks forward to fully recovering and getting back to work for Georgians.”
Isakson, the first Georgian to ever be elected to the Georgia state house, the state senate, the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, chairs the Senate’s Committee on Veterans’ Affairs and the Select Committee on Ethics, according to his official website.
