The Atlantic 10 released its schedule of matchups for the 2019-20 men’s basketball season, according to a press release Thursday.
The Colonials are slated for home-and-home series against Duquesne, Fordham, St. Bonaventure, Richmond and George Mason. GW had home-and-home series against the same squads in addition to VCU last season.
The team is scheduled to battle Davidson, La Salle, Rhode Island and Saint Joseph’s at the Smith Center. On the road, the Colonials will take on Dayton, Massachusetts, Saint Louis and VCU.
Each team will play every A-10 team at least once and five conference rivals twice – once at home and once away – to total an 18-game season. A comprehensive schedule with game date and times will be released at a later date, the release states.
The 2018-19 Colonials carried a 4-14 A-10 record, marking the program’s lowest conference win total since the 2011-12 season. The team defeated Fordham, La Salle and Massachusetts twice last season, bouncing the Minutemen from the first round of the A-10 tournament.
Under the direction of first-year head coach Jamion Christian, the Colonials are turning a new leaf this season. The Colonials will return nine members of last season’s team and Christian has added five new recruits to the mix.
