Duke’s Grocery, a British-inspired pub and restaurant, opened up shop in Foggy Bottom Thursday.
Located in 2000 Pennsylvania Ave., this Duke’s Grocery is the restaurant’s third and largest location in the District. The new spot serves everything from its famous Proper Burger, which was voted one of the best burgers in D.C. by The Washington Post, to a full brunch of eggs, bacon, sausage and toast.
The restaurant’s extra space have also allowed it to expand its menu offerings, adding dishes like duck wings, Mumbai Masala Toast and octopus romesco.
The restaurant, complete with wooden floors, features a full bar, galleria seating and outdoor patio seating along I Street. The decoration draws influence from London with a classic red telephone booth in the dining area.
Duke’s Grocery has two other locations in D.C., one in DuPont Circle and a smaller sister restaurant, Duke’s Counter, located in Woodley Park across from the National Zoo.
Construction on the space began more than nine months ago. The area had been vacant since Kinkead’s Restaurant closed about seven years ago.
