Metropolitan Police Department officers arrested a man outside the Foggy Bottom Metro station Saturday after he assaulted two adults with a knife, according to an MPD report.
Sadiq Folowiyo reported to MPD that he was “disciplining his child” at about 12 p.m. when a man interrupted him and said, “Don’t you hit that child.”
“This is my child,” Folowiyo told the police he said. “I can discipline my child.”
The subject then reached into his pocket and began to pull out a pocket knife when Folowiyo grabbed the subject’s wrist to prevent him from using the knife. The two “got into a scuffle” and the mother attempted to separate them, according to the report.
The three individuals fell to the ground, and emergency personnel on scene treated Folowiyo and the mother for minor cuts, the report states.
MPD officers arrested the subject for assault with a dangerous weapon and transported him to the Second District police station for processing, according to the report.
