The athletic department will swap a Nike swoosh for Adidas’ 3-Stripes.
Adidas will be the official outfitter for all of GW’s varsity sports programs, athletic director Tanya Vogel announced in a release Tuesday. The organizations entered a five-year partnership that will begin July 1 and extend through the 2024 season.
“Adidas is a global leader in the world of sport and we are thrilled to enter into this agreement,” Vogel said in the release. “It became clear to us that Adidas will be a true partner as we strive to achieve excellence in all that we do.”
The brand will also create apparel for coaches, staff and fans, according to the release.
The partnership with Adidas ends a seven-year brand partnership with Nike. The athletic department most recently extended its contract with Nike by three more years in 2015. Prior to 2012, GW did not have an official brand.
