Metropolitan Police Department and GW Police Department officers responded to E Street after two suspects attempted to rob CVS, according to a GW Alert sent at about 4:40 a.m. Thursday.
At 4:20 a.m., MPD notified GWPD that an attempted robbery occurred at 3:42 a.m. at the CVS on E Street, the alert states. The departments are searching for two black males in their 30s, one wearing all black clothing with a red hoodie and one wearing a black vest, dark hoodie, gray sleeves and dark pants, according to the alert.
The two men entered the store and handed the manager a note that read, “Take us to the office and nothing will happen to you.” One of the men took the note from the manager, both suspects left the store and the manager called MPD, according to an MPD report of the incident.
Both departments were on the scene investigating and canvassing the area for the suspects, according to the GW Alert.
The alert advised students to avoid the area and call 911 or GWPD’s emergency line if they spot the individual.
A University spokeswoman did not return a request for comment.
