Metropolitan Police Department officers are searching for two suspects who kicked and struck a man near Strong Hall Friday night, according to a police report.
At about 1:55 a.m., a man was walking to pick up his girlfriend near 601 21st St. NW when the two suspects tackled him to the ground “for no reason,” according to the report.
The two suspects kicked and struck the man in the face and right side of his body, causing multiple injuries. While assaulting the man, the two suspects attempted to steal his phone by trying to pull it out of his hands, but were unsuccessful, according to the report.
The two suspects then fled the location on foot heading east on G Street, then south through an alley in the 2000 block of G Street, the report states.
The case is open, but officers are searching for the men, according to the report.
University spokeswoman Maralee Csellar said the assault involved a student and the GW Police Department is still investigating the incident.
“We do not believe there to be a threat to the community,” Csellar said.

The Hatchet incorrectly reported the incident took place outside of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority house. The victim lives on townhouse row, but the incident took place near Strong Hall. We regret this error.
