A company allowing freelancers and entrepreneurs to rent out office and desk space will open a new location next year in the Shops at 2000 Penn, according to a Monday press release.
MakeOffices – a coworking and real estate company – will begin constructing a roughly 41,000-square-foot office on the seventh floor of the complex early next year and is expected to open in mid-2019. The space will hold 90 offices and 50 open desks, according to the release.
MakeOffices CEO Zach Wade said the new space – which will serve as the company’s 10th D.C.-area location – allows the organization to pursue a “regional enterprise business.” The company already owns several locations near the University, including in Dupont Circle and on K Street.
He said the new location offers users “unparalleled access to D.C. and the surrounding markets.”
“Being at the front door of GWU’s main campus, we are positioned as a potential university-to-coworking pipeline to help fuel current and future entrepreneurs,” Wade said in the release.
