Students marched on Capitol Hill Thursday to pressure members of Congress to pass a “clean” Dream Act.
The rally, which attracted more than 500 demonstrators, came after students from GW and schools across the D.C. area marched out of classes protesting Trump’s decision to end a program that shielded young undocumented immigrants from deportation. At least three students were arrested at the rally.
The “clean” Dream Act was proposed in response to Trump’s decision to end Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. It would allow for children brought to the U.S. to apply for permanent resident status and ensure DACA recipients can stay in the country.
