A woman was arrested Saturday after stealing a wallet belonging to a GW community member in Kogan Plaza, police said.
Yuzho Xie, 20, was charged with second-degree theft after stealing the woman’s wallet, which contained a GWorld card, two credit cards, a debit card and her driver’s license, according to a Metropolitan Police Department report. Xie pleaded not guilty in D.C. Superior Court, according to court documents.
The University Police Department responded at 1:30 p.m. to a report of a theft in Kogan Plaza. A woman told police that her wallet had been stolen from behind while she was sitting in the plaza, according to the report.
An officer viewed surveillance footage allegedly showing Xie committing the theft. Later, another UPD officer identified Xie on campus and found her in possession of the stolen items, according to the report.
Xie admitted to taking the wallet and making fraudulent purchases with the stolen items, the report states. At about 9:15 p.m., she was arrested and taken to Second District station.
Xie will appear in court Oct. 24 for a hearing.
