Man arrested for DUI near GW Hospital

City police arrested a man seen asleep behind the wheel for driving under the influence outside GW Hospital Tuesday, according to a Metropolitan Police Department report.

After a witness observed the man asleep at the wheel, MPD officers arrived and determined the man was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at about 6:50 p.m., according to an MPD report.

Police seized three beer containers and his vehicle and arrested the man on charges of DUI, not having a vehicle permit and possession of an open alcohol container. He was later transported to the Second District station, according to the report.

He was not charged in D.C. Superior Court at the time of publication.

Also on Tuesday, a man was arrested for unlawful entry in Shenkman Hall, according to an MPD report.

Kenwood Green, 39, was arrested by University Police Department officers for allegedly violating a notice barring him from campus property and was transported to Second District station. The man was sleeping in the food court in the basement of the residence hall, according to the report.

Green also received a bench warrant from a judge calling for his arrest, according to the report. His case is being handled by D.C. Superior Court, but a court appearance has not been scheduled, according to the court’s website.
