GW will offer temporary dining options in District House while the residence hall’s new vendors prepare to open, according to a release.
“District Days,” a program which was set to offer food from the incoming District House vendors and other locations on campus during the first week of classes, will now take place until all or some of the building’s vendors open. Students will only be able to purchase the food using GWorld between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. during weekdays, according to the release.
The release did not state how much those meals would cost or exactly when each of the six District House vendors are expected to open.
J Street, GW’s former dining hall on the Foggy Bottom campus, was shut down at the end of last semester as part of a sweeping overhaul to the University’s dining plan. Students will now use an open dining plan, which gives them a certain amount of dollars that can be used to purchase food at restaurants and other eateries on or by campus.
Wiseguy NY Pizza, Beef n’ Bread, Chick-fil-A, GRK Fresh Greek, and Sol Mexican Grill will be opening in the basement level of District House, as well as a Peet’s Coffee & Tea on the ground level this semester.
Officials also announced in the release a tweak to the dining plan, allowing dollars initially allocated solely for dining and groceries to be used for laundry machines in residence halls and on-campus printing options – a decision applauded by Student Association President Erika Feinman and Executive Vice President Thomas Falcigno during the SA Senate’s first meeting this semester Monday night.
