Those staying in D.C. for spring break and planning to go out might want to find an above-ground form of transportation for the next couple of days.

The closure, which Metro officials announced Tuesday afternoon, was prompted by an electric cable fire early Monday morning. The Post reported that the safety check is intended to prevent incidents like the train car that filled with smoke at L’Enfant Plaza last year, which killing one person and injured several others.
