GW will shut down on Wednesday because of the Metro system closure, according to a campus advisory.
The University announced Tuesday evening that administrative offices would not open the next day on the Foggy Bottom, Mount Vernon or Virginia Science and Technology campuses.
Metro announced that starting Tuesday at midnight, the Metro will shut down for 29 hours for safety checks of cables.
“We are taking this action because of our employees heavy reliance on Metro to get to work,” the University advisory reads.
Classes in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences will still take place and Gelman Library will maintain its normal hours, according to the advisory.
Wednesday’s Metro closure comes after the fire at the McPherson Square station Monday and about one year after a woman died in a fire at the L’Enfant Plaza station.
