Early morning shooting at 18th and L shuts down streets

This post was written by Hatchet reporter Danielle Mahar.

An early morning shooting Monday shut down an area near 18th and L streets NW to traffic until about 9 a.m., The Washington Post reported.

Authorities said a man was injured after being shot in the area around 3 a.m. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment after the incident, but was still conscious and breathing at the time, according to The Post.

The roads around 18th and L street were closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic to allow the Metropolitan Police Department to investigate the shooting but no arrests have been made in the incident, The Post reported.

MPD did not return immediate requests for comment.
