A student was arrested Wednesday for an aggravated assault that occurred a week earlier on 22nd Street near the Science and Engineering Hall, according to an arrest document from the Metropolitan Police Department.
The student was arrested in front of 2152 F St., according to an MPD listserv. No individuals involved in the incident are named in the MPD document.
The person who was assaulted was walking on 22nd Street at 1 a.m. on Oct. 7 when three other people approached him and one of them shook his hand. The document says he went to shake the hand of another person in the group when one of the three said, “Don’t fucking touch me.”
The three suspects then started “punching him in the face continuously,” according to the document.
The document says a witness pulled the suspects off the person assaulted and then “they all walked away.”
The person who was assaulted, a white male who is not Hispanic or Latino, walked to GW Hospital after the assault and was treated for a broken nose and a concussion and was released, according to the police document.
The incident is listed as an open case in the University’s crime log. University spokeswoman Maralee Csellar said in an email that the University Police Department did not assist MPD for this arrest.
