Some Metro stations might be overwhelmed during Pope Francis’ visit to D.C. — but a new petition is looking to change that.
Petition-maker Noah Rosenheck has posted a plea to the pope on the website change.org, asking him to bless the Metro system while in town “so it actually works.”
“Our Metro system is having some troubles,” Rosenheck said in the petition. “All of D.C. would be grateful if you could find the time to bless it during your upcoming stay. Maybe a Papal blessing is just what it needs.”
In the past year, Metro derailments have caused service delays and asbestos was found on nearly 300 metro cars. Officials are also predicting delays this week because of increased traffic due to the pope’s visit.
There are currently around 300 signatures on the petition, which asks for 500 total signatures.
If this petition works, maybe the pope can use his influence to address the pricey produce at Whole Foods next.
