The women’s cross country team received a regional ranking from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the second time in program history, the athletic department announced Monday.
GW is ranked No. 12 in the Mid-Atlantic regional poll after a 5-1 result at the Mount St. Mary’s Duals on Sept. 4 and tying for first this weekend at the Salty Dog Invitational.
The Colonials’ other appearance in the poll came in the final week of the 2012 season when the team was ranked No. 15 in the same region.
A single member coach in each region determines the rankings, which are meant to be predictive of where teams would likely finish at the NCAA Regional Championships. There are fifteen teams ranked in each region.
