Things are heating up in D.C.
District residents should expect to step outside into what feels like 100 degrees Fahrenheit Friday, causing the National Weather Service to issue a heat advisory until 8 p.m.
Weather reports show that Friday will be extremely humid, with a high temperature in the mid 90s and dew points around 70 degrees. When high temperatures are combined with high dew points, which portend humid weather, the National Weather Service routinely issues heat advisories, which began for the Baltimore, Md. and D.C. area at 11:03 a.m. on Friday and is scheduled to end at 8 p.m.

The service advises people in the area to stay indoors and keep cool and to reschedule outdoor activities for early in the morning or late in the afternoon for fear of heat-related illnesses like heat stroke.
“Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke,” the advisory said. “Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.”
