Baseball’s star closer Eddie Muhl was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-East Region Second Team, the ABCA announced on Wednesday afternoon.
He is one of 12 players across eight regions from the Atlantic 10 conference to earn regional honors.
Muhl finished up a standout sophomore season in May, after which he was named to the A-10 All-Conference First Team. Muhl posted a 2.13 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 24 appearances, moving seamlessly into the closing spot.
He finished the regular season with an NCAA-leading 17 saves which set both GW and A-10 single-season records. Muhl also set a GW record for career saves during the 2015 season with 18.
Between the end of the 2014 season and mid-March, Muhl pitched 18.2 consecutive innings without giving up a run.
With Muhl at the back of the bullpen, the Colonials had their first 30-win season in a decade in 2015. They won two games in the A-10 Championship, but were knocked out of the semifinals by Davidson.
