A car accident involving at least two vehicles occurred at around 4:45 p.m. Sunday on the corner of 19th and E Streets, said Paul Metcalf, a public information officer for the Metropolitan Police Department public information officer. He did not give a cause for the accident.

At least one person involved in the car accident was transported to a hospital, Metcalf said. He did not name the hospital or describe the injury.

A black GMC Yukon was overturned on the sidewalk and a silver car was overturned in the street.

Police arrived on the scene, in addition to Secret Service officers and D.C. Fire and EMS. Police blocked off the intersection after the accident.
