D.C. fire officials responded to South Hall early Wednesday morning after a student started a fire in her dorm room.
D.C. Fire Department, along with city and campus police, arrived at South Hall around midnight on Tuesday after a resident “attempted to burn paper and nail polish remover together,” University spokeswoman Maralee Csellar said in an email. Csellar added that another student who lived in the room was able to stop the fire with a fire extinguisher and there was no damage or reported injuries.
The student who started the fires “had a history at the school of setting fires,” and when interviewed, told Metropolitan Police Department officers “that she enjoyed setting fires,” according to the police report.
The student was transported to the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program at the D.C. General Hospital Compound, according to the police report.
