A water leak in the Fillmore building on Monday afternoon affected six classrooms, the University confirmed Tuesday.
Students working in the building Monday were forced to evacuate after a pipe burst. Staff tried to repair the water damage, and continued working with an outside contractor Tuesday to address issues related to the leak, University spokesman Kurtis Hiatt said in an email.
The University acquired the Fillmore building when it took over the Corcoran’s college last year. GW hired TTR Sotheby’s International Realty to sell the Georgetown property, and is hoping to make a $14 million sale.
Hiatt did not immediately respond to questions about how the water leak might affect the sale.
If work was not complete by the time GW opened Wednesday, some rooms in the building would be unavailable for classroom use, but students could use other spaces, Hiatt said.
