Women’s basketball junior Jonquel Jones and freshman Kelli Prange were named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league announced Monday.
The award is the third straight for Jones and a league-high fifth of the year. Jones is the first Colonial to win the award five times in one season, and her six career awards are the most since Anna Montańana won six from 2001-05. This is Prange’s second Rookie of the Week this season.
In GW’s two victories over Rhode Island and UMass, Jones averaged team highs with 11.5 points per game, 14.5 rebounds per game, and 3 blocks per game.
She is the only player in the conference averaging a double-double with 15.7 points per game and a league-best 11.6 rebounds.
In those same two games, Prange averaged 10.5 points per game and 6.5 rebounds. She is one of two rookies in the conference to rank in the league’s top 30 scoring leaders (10.1 ppg) and top 15 rebounding leaders (6.4 rpg).
Women’s basketball returns to action on Wednesday against Duquesne at the Smith Center.
