Women’s basketball junior Jonquel Jones was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for the third time this season, the league announced Monday.
The Freeport, Bahamas native averaged 21 points and 12.5 rebounds in the team’s victories over Towson and Dayton. She shot 64.3 percent from the field as she led the Colonials to match the best start in program history.
Jones leads the conference in rebounding with 11 per game and is fifth with 16 points per game. She also ranks second with a 53.1 percent shooting percentage.
She is the only player in the conference averaging a double-double.
Jones is the only player in the A-10 to receive the award more than once this season and has passed Dayton’s Andrea Hoover for most awards. Jones is the first GW player to be named Player of the Week three times in one season since Kimberly Beck in 2006-07.
Jones and the Colonials return to the Smith Center on Wednesday to continue conference play against Saint Joseph’s.
