A kitchen fire broke out at the State Plaza Hotel on Friday afternoon, a fire official confirmed.

At least 10 fire and police vehicles arrived at the hotel, next to The Dakota, at about 2:05 p.m to respond to the fire, D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Tim Wilson said. Hotel workers and guests were evacuated from the building.

Wilson said emergency officials were examining two patients, but he did not have information about potential injuries or if they had been transported to a nearby hospital.
