A junior transfer student has jumped into the race for Student Association executive vice president, now one of four candidates for the spot.
If elected, Ian Crueldad said he would cut printing costs across campus and allow Greek organizations to receive money from the SA’s $1 million budget.
He also promised to bring a laser focus on “unnecessary spending” at GW, though he said he couldn’t yet pinpoint the specific costs he would target.
As a student who attends GW with the help of a scholarship, the junior said wants to help more international students afford to come to the University.
“I’ll try to start something that would save money and in turn would give aid to foreign students,” Crueldad said.
He said he also wanted to increase alumni donations by connecting students with alumni to discuss their personal experiences.
“Either they’re not being reached out to or they don’t want to give money to the administration, but I know that if students call them, alumni will be more compelled to give more money,” he said.
The transfer from the California State University – East Bay said his experiences lobbying for more money for schools in California would help him work with administrators at GW to accomplish his goals.
He is a member of the College Democrats, the GW Debate Team and the Philippine Cultural Society.
Crueldad joins sophomore Paul Lisbon and SA senator Chris Stillwell in the race.
