It took two years of rolling solo, but indie-pop duo holychild is now signed to a major record label and hoping to release its first album in March.
Liz Nistico and Louie Diller, the musicians behind holychild, began writing music together in 2011 after they met at GW in a dance class where Diller was a guest accompanist and Nistico was a dancer. Billboard reported Thursday that they signed to the label Glassnote, which also manages bands Phoenix, Mumford & Sons, and CHVRCHES.
Switching their base from D.C. to Los Angeles, the group began self-producing its songs and videos, which garnered attention from multiple record companies.
After making their way along the east coast and other parts of the country last spring, the band now has some festival shows lined up for SXSW and Firefly fest.
Their debut EP, called “Mind Speak,” is due in March.
