Sick of Gelbucks? Indie coffee shops offer ‘disloyalty cards’

This post was written by Hatchet reporter Jeanine Marie.

Coffee is all about convenience. Whether this means stopping at Gelbucks on the way to class, or brewing a single Keurig cup, the romance of being at a cute coffee shop is often lost in the D.C. shuffle.

But six indie coffee shops are banding together to lure more coffee-sipping regulars – both to their own stores and their competitors’. They are encouraging patrons to explore each other’s coffee shops with a disloyalty card.

According to DCist, the card “can be punched once at each location and then redeemed for one free drink at any of the six.”

Participating shops are:
Peregrine Espresso (660 Pennsylvania Ave SE; 1718 14th Street NW; 1309 5th Street NE)
Filter (1916 I Street NW; 1726 20th Street NW)
The Coffee Bar (1201 S Street NW)
Chinatown Coffee Company (476 H Street NW)
La Mano (304 Carroll Street NW)
Blind Dog Cafe(944 Florida Avenue NW)
