Time to make some new plans for the first day of class.
Ben Vinson, dean of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, had invited students to a “hoagie and karaoke party” to get to know the first-year administrator. The event seemed modeled off the “pancakes with the provost” event, but with a bolder combination: food and singing.
But, as written in red capitalized letters stamped at the top of a CCAS advising email sent this morning, the event was canceled.
The promise of a D.J., “karaoke, six-foot hoagies, fun, and games” according to the original Dec. 4 invitation was broken – for now.
Why?
“The event was canceled due to low registration but an alternate event is planned for the students who RSVP’d and additional events for students are in the works for this semester,” GW spokesman Kurtis Hiatt told The Hatchet in an email.
