For a dose of Christmas spirit and culture, check out the Heurich House’s Christkindlmarkt. It opens today in Dupont Circle, and hopes to recreate an authentic outdoor Christmas market – a long-celebrated German tradition.
Local artisans will fill the mansion’s garden on Friday and Saturday afternoon, offering a range of goods, from homemade clothing and jewelry to items for the home.
Additionally, the mansion will be decorated for the season and tours will be available during market hours.
A variety of musicians will also perform traditional German music, with grub catered by Café Berlin. The local restaurant will serve schnitzel, bratwurst, and other staples.
The Christkindlmarkt will take place on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. Admission is $5 per person, or $15 for access to both the market and the additional house tour.
