If you watch ESPN at all, you’ve probably seen college basketball analyst Jay Bilas on screen once or twice discussing the NCAA. After GW’s upset win over Creighton Sunday, the Colonials have become one of the teams Bilas is talking about.
In the analyst’s first ranking of the Top 68 teams in the country, Bilas has GW slated at No. 60 – 30 spots higher than the No. 90 ranking given to GW by ESPN analyst Dan Hanner at the beginning of the season.
Here’s what Bilas wrote:
60. George Washington Colonials
The Colonials are 6-1 with an eye-popping win over Creighton. Led by Indiana transfer Maurice Creek and Villanova transfer Isaiah Armwood, GW is primarily a defensive team that has made getting the shot you want very difficult. The Colonials limited Doug McDermott to seven points, a career low.
Four other Atlantic 10 teams sit in front of the Colonials: Saint Louis (No. 47), VCU (No. 32), Dayton (No. 28) and UMass (No. 26).
GW (6-1) could move to 7-1 with a win against Rutgers Wednesday, but they will face a tough matchup Sunday in the BB&T Classic against Maryland – Bilas’ No. 45 ranked team.
What do you think of the Colonials ranking?
