An alumnus just landed what is arguably the worst job in Washington.
Aaron Albright, who graduated from GW in 2000, will field media inquiries about the rollout of the Affordable Care Act after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services tapped him as director of media relations, Politico reported Sunday.
Albright will take over the press office Monday as it continues to deal with website glitches have prevented hundreds of thousands from purchasing insurance. The agency was also hit with a media onslaught last week with news that 5 million Americans had lost their health insurances despite President Barack Obama’s promise that they could keep their insurance plans.
Albright graduated from GW with a bachelor’s in journalism and has since worked in politics and public relations. Albright previously served as the top Democratic spokesman for the House’s Education and Workforce committee and communications director for Rep. Peter Deutsch, D-Fla.
While at GW, he was close to one of GW’s most famous alumni of the 1990s – Kerry Washington was his house staff leader and freshman orientation leader, Albright tweeted last month.
