Since neighbors don’t look highly on 20-somethings knocking on doors in outlandish outfits, it’s time to find something else to occupy your time on Halloween. These unique D.C. events might even top getting free candy.
Ghoul’s Night Out Dance Party
This Halloween, jam out to live music from a venue with one of the best sound systems in the city.
On Oct. 31, U Street Music Hall presents “U HELL: Ghoul’s Night Out,” a costume dance party that will feature live performances by Gent & Jawns, Obeyah, Hyx & Houston, Rex Riot, and more.
Guests will witness the debut of DC Brau’s seasonal beer, labeled “Ghoul’s Night Out” after the popular track by The Misfits, and have a chance to enter a costume contest that will award one winner free entry to U Hall events for a full year.
The 18+ event begins at 9 pm, and tickets can be purchased in advance for $10 on the venue’s website.
M Street madness kicks off Halloween week
Over 30 bars spanning from Foggy Bottom to Dupont Circle will participate this Saturday in Nightmare on M Street, D.C.’s largest costumed bar crawl.
The event, which takes place this weekend for the 14th consecutive year, will offer discounted drinks and food specials from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. at participating locations. Bring your best costume and make sure not to miss McFadden’s midnight costume contest, which in past years has awarded winners with tickets to 9:30 Club concerts.
Tickets are likely to sell out and prices increase daily, so don’t forget to grab yours here. After reserving your place, pick up your tickets between 5 and 10 pm at McFadden’s, The Front Page, The Exchange Saloon, or Maddy’s Bar & Grille.
“Twerk or Treat” Halloween party
Head on over to Brightest Young Things’ “Twerk or Treat” halloween costume party Oct. 26 at the Sphinx Club.
Guests are invited to stay on theme by dressing up as anything from “child actors” to “giant tongue” or even as creepy as “Sexy Steve Martin,” all while dancing to live performances by artists like DJ Rex Riot and Avan Lava.
Scarier than ghosts and zombies? We think so. Hilarious in a way that is borderline inappropriate? Absolutely.
Tickets to the 21+ event are $20 in advance and $25 the day off, but guests are advised to purchase tickets as soon as possible as the event is likely to sell out. The madness begins at 8:30 pm and will continue until 1:30 am.
Zombie run returns
Finally, your secret wish to be the hero of a zombie apocalypse can be fulfilled.
The annual “Run for the Killer Zombies” race, which features 5k, 8k, and 1k trails crawling with killer zombies, returns to the area October 26.
Runners will begin at South County High School in Woodbridge, Va., and continue through the Lorton “Super Max” Prison, all the while being pursued by over 60 zombies. If that’s not enough to get you moving, we don’t know what is.
The races will take place at 2 p.m., and registered runners picking up tickets should arrive between noon and 1:30 pm. Registration costs are $20 for the 1k, $40 for the 5k, and $50 for the 8k. Cash prizes will be rewarded to the six runners with the best times – and the best outfits.
