If you only know Columbia Heights as the place you get bussed to for Target Takeover, you really need to spend more time there.

This Saturday, the neighborhood is celebrating Columbia Heights Day, a community festival in the same vein as Adams Morgan Day or the H Street Festival.

The event features free performances and entertainment. Attend a yoga class at 10 a.m. and enjoy the sounds of live music from 11 a.m. onwards, as you nibble on cuisine from the city’s best food trucks. If you’re really hungry, you can even participate in an eating contest. For the kid in you, head to the petting zoo and moon bounce to relieve yourself of midterm stress.

Saturday October 4th – 11th and Kenyon streets NW, just two blocks east of the Columbia Heights Metro.  Activities run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
