The Sikh Student Association helped students wrap their heads with turban in Kogan Plaza on Sunday to promote Sikh awareness.
“Turban Day,” which is celebrated globally, is meant to promote cultural understanding, students said. Turbans are key parts of the Sikh religion, which is the world’s fifth largest religion with about 20 million followers.
“Our goal is to break that barrier, break the fear,” said Kabir Gumer, vice president of the Sikh Student Association.
