A man was punched outside McFaddens on Saturday while trying to break up an argument on the street, GW’s police chief said.
After walking out of the Pennsylvania Avenue bar at about 2 a.m., the man saw a group of people he did not know arguing near GW Hospital. When he tried to step in, he was punched in the face by a 6-foot-tall black man in his early twenties, University Police Department Chief Kevin Hay said.
The attacker had several tattoos on both arms, the alleged victim told police.
He refused medical treatment at first, but eventually allowed EMeRG to take him to the emergency room. He was not affiliated with GW.
The Metropolitan Police Department also responded to the scene, Hay said.
