A longtime accounting professor and Faculty Senate member died after a battle with cancer this month. He was 89.
Frederick Kurtz, who taught accounting at the University for 43 years, died in his home Aug. 16, according to the Washington Post. He died at his home in Springfield, Va.
While at GW, Kurtz served on the Faculty Senate and its executive committee. He also co-authored two textbooks on accounting.
He was also a World War II veteran, and served in the Battle of the Bulge, his family told The Post. He received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Virginia in 1948 and a master of business administration from the University of Pennsylvania in 1949, the same year he began teaching at GW.
