The pop-rock and electro duo Timeflies will bump beats at this year’s Fall Fest.
The Manhattan-based musical duo, along with opener DJ Earworm, will electrify a typically packed crowd Aug. 31 in University Yard.
Formed by producer Rob Resnick and vocalist Cal Shapiro, Timeflies broke into the iTunes top 10 in 2011 with their first album “Scotch Tape” and topped the iTunes pop charts in with their 2012 EP, “One Night.”
Acclaimed by Vanity Fair as “musical masterminds,” the group, who formed three years ago, also performed at Chicago’s famed Lollapalooza music festival and today count over 134,000 fans on Facebook.
Mashup artist DJ Earworm will open the Fall Fest set, which is set to kick off at 4 p.m., just two years after GW Program Board brought in mashup king Girl Talk.
Program Board declined to provide the cost of this year’s performances. According to entertainment booking agency Pretty Polly Productions, which specializes in college campus shows, booking Timeflies costs $35,000.
Last year’s performance featuring DJ Diplo cost Program Board $42,500, according to contracts obtained by The Hatchet.
