A nearby Maryland county has even more reason to celebrate the newest member of Britain’s royal family, Prince George.
Prince George’s County spokesman Barry Hudson said the area may send a gift to the prince that shares its name.
He said the county may even be able to take advantage of its proximity to the nation’s capital to lure the royals to D.C. by offering a ride on Air Force One, which is housed in Prince George’s County.
Prince George County in Virginia, though further from D.C., also cheered the name, giving the baby a “royal salute” on its Facebook page Wednesday.
A county administrator, Percy Ashcraft, also held an online press conference Thusday to “take your questions and comments about the connection” to the royal birth.
