About 63 percent of the Class of 2012 graduates were employed six months after Commencement, with 6 percent unemployed, according to a GW survey released this week.
The survey, which garnered responses from 870 graduates, showed that over half of graduates reported salaries of $40,000 a year or more, which is about on par with the national average. About 31 percent of respondents said they make between $30,000 to $39,999.
One-fifth of respondents said they were in graduate school, with 5 percent volunteering.
The result are about even with last year’s, which showed 62 percent of Class of 2011 graduates were employed.
Students reported working at corporations including Deloitte, IBM, the U.S. Congress and Morgan Stanley. About 36 percent of students also took offers in the government or nonprofit sectors.
The University-wide career center jumpstarted an overhaul of its services in 2012, aiming to increase GW’s job prospects by helping students plan out the industries they want to go into earlier and having a team of consultants securing employers to recruit and hire GW students. About $20 million dollars will be pumped into the center over the next decade.
