The suspicious package that forced several blocks to shut down Tuesday turned out to be an unattended package of clothing and books, Metropolitan Police Department said Thursday.
MPD officers blocked off several blocks surrounding Triangle Park, on the corner of 24th and G streets, around 11 p.m. as crews investigated the package, MPD Public Information Officer Hugh Carew said. The streets were blocked off with crime tape for at least two hours.
University Police Department Chief Kevin Hay said MPD did not ask UPD for assistance, and added that the park is located just off campus.
