A suspicious silver vehicle has followed female students on the Foggy Bottom Campus this week, according to a GW-wide email sent by the University Police Department.
Students reported that they were followed late at night by a black man between 20 and 30 years old wearing a skull cap and driving a silver Honda, according to the email sent Friday afternoon. The car had a Maryland license plate with the number 9AY6901.
UPD Chief Kevin Hay said the first report came early Thursday morning, with a second second sighting Friday morning.
“The first report stated the vehicle followed a student for several blocks from 19 to 24 streets. A 4Ride driver also stated a female passenger reported this vehicle near McFadden’s,” Hay said.
While searching campus, UPD saw the vehicle on H Street near Starbucks, Hay said. The driver left the area as officers approached, and the Metropolitan Police Department was notified.
