Jill Biden will meet with student and faculty veterans Wednesday morning on the first stop of her listening tour at several universities.
The Second Lady will meet with GW veterans in the Marvin Center, hearing about their transition from military service to a college environment. Student and faculty veterans will speak with Biden about University initiatives that have facilitated this transition for them and their families.
Biden teamed up with First Lady Michelle Obama in 2011 to launch the Joining Forces Initiative, aimed at supporting military families.
The University has been recognized for its strong support of the veteran community and earned top marks in the Military Times EDGE magazine list of veteran-friendly schools. The number of student veterans attending through the post-9/11 GI Bill has tripled in the last four years.
