CNN anchor Anderson Cooper will host a talk at GW on gun control Thursday, the University announced today.
Cooper, who spent weeks covering the Sandy Hook shooting from Newtown, Conn., will invite guests for the taping of a special feature called “Guns Under Fire.”
The event is hosted by CNN, which distributed “a limited number of tickets” to GW, University spokeswoman Michelle Sherrard said Tuesday. It will be held in Jack Morton Auditorium.
“Students and faculty who were invited were chosen from a variety of schools, departments and student organizations,” Sherrard wrote in an email. A handful of students who live in Newtown were also invited to attend.
National restrictions on guns have been a top political issue since the Dec. 14 massacre, with President Barack Obama and his administration bringing several measures to the table in recent weeks.
