Clarification appended
Freshman guard Joe McDonald is one of two Atlantic 10 Rookies of the Week, sharing the honor with Dayton’s Dyshawn Pierre.
The honor comes after McDonald paced all players in GW’s victory over BU Saturday, scoring 21 points, adding seven boards and three assists in 36 minutes of play. He also made all eight of his shots at the line, and finished 6-of-9 from the field on the day. His 21 points were the most for a Colonial rookie since junior forward Nemanja Mikic scored 23 against UNC Wilmington in Nov. 2010.
McDonald, who head coach Mike Lonergan intends on utilizing to run his offense this year, and the Colonials next head to Notre Dame Wednesday to take on the Fighting Irish.
